Lalakhal, Sylhet - An attractive destination to visit in Bangladesh

An overview

One popular tourist destination in Jaintapur Upazilla is Lalakhal, which is surrounded by hills, natural forests, tea gardens, and rivers beneath the Jainta Hill, which is a part of India's Meghalaya Ranges.

The river Myntdu enters Lalakhal as the Saree after flowing from the Indian portion, and after passing Sarighat, it merges with the river Guaiyan.

Due to the minerals in the water and the sand riverbed, the color of the water along a nearly 12-kilometer length of the river from Lalakhal to Sarighat remains translucent green in winter (as well as other seasons without rain).

There is a "Lalakhal Tea Garden" on the Saree River's eastern bank.

In Lalakhal, visitors can simultaneously witness a river with green water, a mountain range, and a tea garden.

Best time to visit

The ideal season to visit Lalakhal is winter.

Since there is no water flow during this time of year, visitors can enjoy peaceful, transparent, blue-green waters.

In furthermore, there are lots of winter birds to see.

How to go

Usually, tourists take a vehicle trip to Sarighat, 42 kilometers from the heart of Sylhet, and then charter a boat to Lalakhal.

Any nature lover will find the one and a half hour (mechanized) boat trip over this crystal green water with lush green hills on each side of the river to be a calming sight.

Sarighat is home to a boat station run by Nazimgarh Resort.

From there, you can rent a variety of mechanized boats to get to Lalakhal.

Lalakhal can also be reached via Microbus or private vehicle.

In the middle of the road, not far from th Sari Bridge, is a historic building that was once a pub called "Iraboti," after the princess of the Jainta Province, in

the center of the road, in the province.

This location is only 7 km from Lalakhal.

From the River Queen restaurant, tourists can take a boat to travel to the Zero Point.

Depending on its size and type, a microbus can be rented for 3500 - 5500 BDT, though weekend fares would be more (especially on Fridays).

Motorized boats produced in the area can be rented from Sarighat for around 1200–1500 BDT, while Nazimgarh Boat Station's specialty boats cost between 2000–5000 BDT.
